With Terrell Thomas Out, the G-Men Weigh Their Options

" One of the reasons cited most often as evidence of the Giants' fitness for a second straight Super Bowl title was the fact that cornerback Terrell Thomas was returning after missing all of 2011 with a torn ACL.

Thomas' absence contributed to a fairly terrible year for the Giants secondary, leaving them on the brink of missing the playoffs before they took off on their epic run to glory. With Thomas back, the feeling was that the defense would be even better this time around.

It doesn't look like we'll ever find out if that's true. Thomas re-injured his ACL over the weekend and will be heading to California to consult with doctors about the extent of the damage.

The Giants did not sound like they expected Thomas back at any point in 2012 after looking at the MRI, which would be a devastating blow for Thomas. He signed a long-term extension with the Giants during the offseason, but one that pays him just $2 million for this season with the bulk of the money coming in future seasons "
